Liz Neuman
Born and raised in Bakersfield, Liz learned the meaning of hard work from her parents who started their lives working in Kern County’s agricultural fields. They devoted their lives to providing their children with opportunities they never had themselves. Liz received her B.A. in Political Science from CSUB and began her career in the office of her local congressman, helping constituents navigate complex federal regulations and red tape.
This early professional experience inspired in her a desire to advocate for the underserved. When an ultra-rare disease struck her two oldest children, Liz refused to accept that due to a lack of funding for research, there were no treatments for the illness that threatened her sons’ lives. In response, she helped to create a patient advocacy organization and her efforts have resulted in over $1.5 million dollars raised in support of research, and multiple pharmaceuticals now in clinical trials.
Her desire to advocate for her community led Liz to launch Sierra Hills Consulting, a Bakersfield based political strategy and development organization. She enjoys organizing campaigns from the ground up and connecting candidates with donors who support their mission. Liz has helped to elect numerous candidates and has raised tens of millions of dollars for her clients and many important causes.
Liz sits on the board of the Angioma Alliance, the Global Family Care Network and At Ease 911 International. She is deeply committed to her faith and serves as the Religious Education Director at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Above all else, Liz’s greatest joy lies in her family. She and her husband, John, have three sons, Jake, Sam and Will.
